Chelsea and PSG to bid for Brazilan midfielder starring at the Olympic Games - report

According to Brazilian news portal Globo Esporte, Santos youngster Thiago Maia is set to receive offers from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. These offers would be facilitated by the familar name of Giuliano Bertolucci, who's set to be the new representative of Maia, and is already an agent to every one of our Brazilian contingent.

Between the two clubs, Maia supposedly favours a move to PSG, as the French side are his "dream club". But the report claims that he also doesn't believe he's ready to move to Europe just yet. The 19-year-old has close ties to legendary Santos player Clodoaldo, who's now a youth academy consultant for the club -- perhaps on his advice, Maia would prefer to move only next year.

The previous update on Maia was that Chelsea were ready to offer around £15 million for his services, but at the moment, the midfielder is representing Brazil at the Rio Olympics.  He was one of the team's best performers in their first game of the tournament, though the 0-0 draw against South Africa was a highly disappointing result.

Thiago Maia's call-up to the Olympics was the obvious result of his stellar rise through the ranks at Santos since his debut as a professional in late 2014. The next obvious step is to move to a top European side, but with Santos contending for a Brazilian league title until the end of the year, it would make sense to put that act on hold for now.
