It would appear that Chelsea will not come away empty-handed from Transfer Deadline Day. Fiorentina full back Marcos Alonso is currently undergoing his medical at Cobham — it might even be done by now, given that we're a couple hours behind the following tweet. Things can move quickly on transfer deadline day!

Earlier, the 25-year-old followed Chelsea on Twitter, which apparently is a newsworthy event nowadays. We're reminded of course of the Lionel Messi incident, though this time, the follow certainly serves as some sort of additional confirmation that this Alonso transfer is indeed happening.
The transfer fee for Alonso is reportedly in the low £20m range, which puts him well above the dreaded Djilobodji-Hector range. Unlike Chelsea's deadline day signings last season, we should expect Alonso to play a fairly significant role, especially considering the lack of depth in the squad at the position.
