Forever linked with a move to Juventus, Chelsea attacking midfielder Oscar may have entered the plans of yet another Italian giant. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter Milan have approached Chelsea with an enquiry for the Brazilian, and were told that the player is NOT off the market.
After playing strictly as an attacking midfielder in his Chelsea career, Oscar has been deployed by Antonio Conte as a deeper central midfielder in his 4-2-4/4-4-2 tactical shape this preseason. While Oscar did impress at times against Austrian opposition, the same couldn't be said about his showing on Saturday against Real Madrid. While there's still hope that he can make a smooth transition to a deeper role, Oscar's biggest issue has been consistency and that looks to be continuing.
At Inter, Oscar would work with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini, who lead the Nerazzurri to 4th place in Serie A last season, their best finish in the league since 2011. As a result, they will be partaking in the Europa League -- not quite the Champions League, but still more European football than Chelsea can offer this season.
It's been a while since the last rumours of a potential Oscar exit from Chelsea - linking the player to Zenit St. Petersburg - but if Oscar has been in fact made available by the Blues, Inter would be a realistic destination. We'll see if they follow through on their interest with a formal bid.
