Signed, sealed, delivered.
Having passed his medical and signed on the dotted line, Michy Batshuayi is now officially a Chelsea player.
The 22-year-old Belgian striker looked to be heading to Spurs or Crystal Palace or West Ham United (two of whom can offer him European football right this minute), but instead, in the final hour, he chose Chelsea, who can't. Perhaps he's thinking more long term. Or he (and his prodigy of an agent) were using the other teams to drive up the price and wages. Regardless, Batshuayi is now ours. Hopefully he can now help deliver us back into the Champions League.
As usual, Chelsea did not release any official details beyond the contract length — a standard five years. Initial rumors claimed a transfer fee of €40m with wages of around £70k per week.
Welcome, Michy Batshuayi!
