According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have made a new €45 million offer for Napoli centre back Kalidou Koulibaly, but thus far, the Partenopei haven't responded to Chelsea's approach for their prized defender.
Napoli are currently looking to put to use the funds received from the sale of Gonzalo Higuaín to Juventus and possibly preparing for a future without Koulibaly in their ranks. They recently made a €22 million offer for Serbian centre back Nikola Maksimovic, which was rejected by his current club Torino.
Most recently, Koulibaly's agent Bruno Satin told the press that his client wasn't looking to stay at San Paolo this season, and that a deal with one of his suitors in Chelsea and Everton was still in the cards.
It will be hard to convince Napoli's chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis to sell Koulibaly for a fair price, given the €94 million injection to their balance sheet - plus the fact that the defender still has three years remaining on his current deal with the club. But perhaps with enough pressure from the player and his agent, coupled with our repeated attempts, we'll be able to pry him from De Laurentiis' firm grip.
