Michy Batshuayi expects Chelsea move on Sunday, bids heartfelt farewell to Marseille fans, coaches

After a flurry of activity in the two-day break between the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals at the European Championships, it's all gone quiet on the Michy Batshuayi front.  But now that he and the rest of his Belgium teammates have exited the tournament, progress is one again expected and expected soon.

In fact, Batshuayi himself expects his transfer from Marseille to be made official tomorrow (Sunday), and while he doesn't mention his destination by name, I think we can safely assume it will be Chelsea.

The 22-year-old striker has spent the last two seasons at OM, and just like the previous striker we signed from the storied Ligue 1 club, will always have them in his heart.  He bid farewell to them, and his two managers during his time at the club, Marcelo Bielsa and Franck Passi, with a message on social media.

Several enterprising souls have helpfully translated his message into English as well. Here's one of them.

Hello to all,

This should be formalized tomorrow, I'm going to leave Olympique Marseille this summer.  First of all, I want especially to thank all the supporters of the OM: during these two years within the club that I love since I was little, you showed me all your love and support.

It is a great honour for me to have worn this shirt at the Velodrome, a stage that you knew how to make beautiful by this unique atmosphere in France.

I thank the leaders of Olympique Marseille for having trusted me and the technical staff with whom I worked, who helped me a lot to mature and to make progress.  To have evolved a season under the order of coach Bielsa has been a privilege, and I'd like to reach, to accomplish everything he told me to have in the rest of my career.  Thanks also to coach Franck Passi for supporting me and advising me since my arrival in Marseille, as well as my teammates during these two seasons.

I hope I can continue to make you proud in my new club, and will continue of course to follow very closely the results of OM to whom I wish to the fervour and the results that they so richly deserve.

-Michy Batshuayi

Good stuff from the kid.  Welcome to Chelsea.
