You may have gotten the impression that Atlético Madrid had given up on their quest to take Diego Costa back from Chelsea, but it all just got a bit bothersome and monotone and boring. Yeah, yeah, we get it. You want him. But it's not that simple and he doesn't really want to anyway. Or does he?

Of course, AS have been one of the ringleaders in this campaign to get Costa back, so take this with several grains of salt, but, as they would have you believe, Chelsea and Conte are now aware of Diego's true desires and will let him go as soon as we find a replacement. Which could explain the Morata rumors, but those have recently been ended by Real Madrid, so Atléti could be out of luck as well.
Atléti president Enrique Cerezo's unlikely to be deterred by these developments however, and will continue to chirp along just as he has for almost a year now.
"We're looking for a new striker, and we always like to get the biggest players we can."
"Costa played for us for a few years and he's a really good player, no one can deny that. I don't know if Costa has spoken to Conte, but we're working to hard bring the best players to Atleti."

Costa flew out with the rest of the squad to Austria on Friday, and judging by his photos on Instagram and Twitter, he's perfectly happy with his life at Chelsea. Granted, Filipe Luis looked quite content as well last summer before ditching the Chelsea blue for a return to the friendly confines of Diego Simeone, but there's nothing in this new round of rumors to make me believe that Diego Costa is any closer to leaving than he was at the start of the summer.
