A midfield shuffle could be on the horizon for Chelsea before the summer's out. According to the Guardian, the Blues have made an offer of £27 million - plus £3 million in add-ons - to Leicester City for N'Golo Kanté, and won't allow Nemanja Matic's transfer to Italian club Juventus unless their pursuit for the French international is successful.
Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea want to hang on to Matic regardless of the outcome of the Kanté pursuit, but the big Serbian is contemplating a move to either Manchester United or Juventus. Either way Matić could be on his way out of the club, in which case, we better hope the club do manage to sign the Leicester City midfielder.
The latest in that regard, per the Guardian, is that Chelsea will have to raise our offer a bit more after all (Le Parisien said that offer was good enough already) and will need Kanté to press for the move as well, which is obvious as Leicester have offered him a new deal and he thus needs to actively choose us over them. There are many twists and turns to come in this saga.
But regardless of that outcome, keeping Matić should be imperative. Despite his poor performances for the team for most of last season, he's still a very useful player with a skill-set that could prove quite hard to replace.
