According to German magazine Sport Bild, Bayern Munich are interested in acquiring Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who is reportedly on Chelsea's transfer radar as well. The big center back is coming off of an excellent season so the interest is unsurprising.
The German club bought center back Mats Hummels for €35 million last month, but their new (and former Chelsea) manager Carlo Ancelotti apparently sees Koulibaly as a good fit for his squad's defensive needs, either in the center or out on the right flank (a very Ivanovic-esque move... hmmm...). Adding another defender into the mix could make others, like Mehdi Benatia for example, available, which Chelsea could take advantage of as a backup plan.
Koulibaly's contract with Napoli ends in 2019, but he's shown clear interest in moving on from the Italian side to a bigger paycheck. Although given the increasing demands from Napoli in regards to his transfer fee as well as the recent threats from club chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis on Koulibaly's situation, striking a deal for the player won't be easy.
