The scales of Diego Costa tip back in Chelsea's favor

One day he's all but gone, to PSG or Atlético Madrid or China or wherever.  The next day, he's set to stay.  Today is one of those next days.  Today is a good day.

Chelsea are determined to deflect interest in Diego Costa from Atlético Madrid and Chinese Super League clubs after Antonio Conte emerged from talks with the Spain forward encouraged that he may be persuaded to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Dom Fifield's report in The Guardian is echoed by several others, some more reputable than others, but that synergy usually indicates some sort of central (possibly club-related?) source.  Which would then seem to indicate that Chelsea are confident of keeping hold of our leading goalscorer in the last two season.

While not all the surprising, the report does run contrary to previous (strong-ish) suggestions that Costa is "fed up" with life in England and the Premier League and he's ready to get paid to play in a league that doesn't actively hound him to oblivion.

So, today is a good day.  Diego Costa is set to stay.  And we'll have capable options to fill in for him, too, when needed, thanks to the development of young Bertrand Traoré and maybe even the constantly happy Alexandre Pato.
