Inter Milan midfielder finally signs new contract, ending months of Chelsea rumors

Almost exactly a year ago, just as Chelsea's season was about to hit its nadir, the Blues were linked with Internazionale midfielder Marcelo Brozović.  At the time, the Croatian international was still only on loan at Inter from Dinamo Zagreb, but that move was made permanent when Inter exercised the previously agreed upon "mandatory" buy-option of just €8m in the summer.  That didn't stop the rumors however, and Brozović has continued to be linked with moves to the Premier League, most commonly Chelsea and Arsenal — some stories going even as far as to claim that a €25m offer was accepted!

Obviously nothing actually happened in the summer, and on Wednesday, all these rumors have finally been put to bed (for now), as the 24-year-old put pen to paper on a shiny new 4.5-year contract.

It took Brozović a few months to settle when he first arrived in Italy, and while the previous coach didn't seem to rate him all that much, the new man in charge, Stefano Pioli, has picked him for every game so far.  Brozović is young and fairly talented; Inter could do worse than to lock him down as they attempt to recover their former glories.

More importantly, we no longer have to deal with the rumors linking him to Chelsea!
