Having spent the first half of the season recovering from injury and playing with Chelsea's U23 squad, Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel is now ready to get back in first-team action. To do so, the 24-year-old will return to PSV Eindhoven with hopes to mirror his form at the Eredivisie club during the second half of last season.

"I'm glad I made this choice. Rest and physiotherapy were necessary. I am now back to top football and I am glad PSV gave me this opportunity. I got here last season, had a lovely time and I hope that we can match that."

PSV had already shown interest on bringing back Van Ginkel to their squad during the course of the season, and were just waiting for his return to full fitness. Manager Phillip Cocu, who coached Van Ginkel and the PSV team to an Eredivisie title last season, is glad to have the Chelsea boy back at the club.
"Marco is a box to box midfielder with a strong character, depth and scoring ability. Last season, he has already shown his quality. I am very satisfied with Marco as a reinforcement for the squad."

Set to officially join PSV on January 2nd, Van Ginkel also had his contract with Chelsea extended to 2019 as announced by the club today. All in all, a good round of news for the hopeful Chelsea prospect who will certainly be looking to impress Antonio Conte from afar.
