Inter Milan seek Chelsea striker as potential replacement for Mauro Icardi — report

According to Corriere dello Sport (via talkSport), Serie A club Inter Milan might be interested in acquiring Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi. The Belgian international would serve as a replacement to Mauro Icardi, whose rough relationship with some of his club's supporters has only gotten worse after he criticised Inter ultras in his autobiography Sempre Avanti. Icardi was punished by the club due to his comments.

The 23-year-old Argentinian is currently the team's captain, and has been an Inter player since 2013 after spending his first professional season at Sampdoria. In previous transfer windows, he'd been linked to transfers to Arsenal, Napoli and even Chelsea, but no deal ever came to fruition. The fractured relations between player and the fans might motivate Inter to finally cash in on Icardi.

Batshuayi arrived at Chelsea this season on a €40 million fee, and has only played 223 minutes of football since then. While it might be way too soon to sell (or even loan out) the highly talented Batshuayi — and he arrived with the clear mandate to be Diego Costa’s backup — he’s already had his name linked to several other clubs. And even though it's been claimed that he wants to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place, we would probably be wise to have him play a bit more regularly to ensure his happiness.
