Alexandre Pato appears to be one step closer to joining Chelsea for the remainder of the season, as he has reportedly passed his physical with the Blues ahead of a loan for the rest of the campaign. Jim White is reporting that his medical has been passed, and that a deal will be announced shortly.

At this point, one can only hope that Chelsea were far more thorough than they were with Fernando Torres, and that Pato's chronic injury issues from his days at AC Milan weren't something that the medical team simply overlooked. The Blues already have a trio of seemingly injury-prone strikers on the books at the moment, and while Diego Costa appears to have found some form again, his hamstrings could explode without warning at any time.
It will be interesting to see how the past few years have changed Pato, who was once one of the more exciting youngsters in Europe. Even if he's perpetually broken, however, at least it's just a short-term loan.
