Chelsea have had a terrible 2015/16 season, and as a result, the summer transfer window is likely going to see quite a few comings and goings involving the first team squad. On Wednesday, The Daily Mail reported that the Blues are targeting PSG forward Ezequiel Lavezzi as one potential new addition.
Lavezzi is out of contract at the end of the season, and would be available on a free transfer. That means that Chelsea are currently free to negotiate a summer move, without any sort of permission from PSG. Several Italian clubs are rumored to be interested in addition to Chelsea, with both Napoli and Inter Milan mentioned by The Mail.
Of those three clubs, Chelsea could certainly offer the highest wages, as neither Inter or Napoli earn anywhere close to Europe's elite clubs, especially those in the Premier League. Lavezzi would likely have to settle for a short-term contract with Chelsea, however, as the Blues haven't wavered from their policy of not handing multi-year contracts to players in their 30s, and the Argentine forward is 30 years old.
On the pitch, Lavezzi would be an interesting addition, as he's still probably a better player than Pedro, despite his best days probably being well behind him. It's not the first time the Blues have been linked with the player, so it will be one to watch going forward.
