Chelsea medical, contract to be done on Thursday for World Cup winning keeper

We were expecting news on Wednesday that Chelsea had completed the signing of former AC Milan and Italy goalkeeper Marco Amelia, but according to the latest rumors in Italy, Blues' fans will have to wait until Thursday to see Asmir Begovic's new deputy confirmed. Gianluca DiMarzio is reporting that Amelia will have his Chelsea medical a day later than originally reported, but that the keeper is expected to sign a contract which will see him join the Blues for the remainder of the season.

Amelia will be added to the squad immediately, as the Blues still had an open international slot to fill. That doesn't mean that he'll remain in the squad once the January transfer window closes, as he'd seem to be the most likely name to be dropped should Jose Mourinho decide to reinforce the squad for the second half of the campaign.

While Jamal Blackman fans are probably disappointed by this news, FIFA 16 players will be pleased to know that Amelia is a fairly significant upgrade to the Chelsea academy product. I'm expecting an update tomorrow, EA Sports.
