The 2015 summer transfer window is now closed, and while Chelsea didn't manage to land either Paul Pogba or John Stones, they did make quite a few additions to the first team squad, as well as a good number of sales. Here is a quick summary of the ins and outs involving the Blues during the summer window:
Transferred to Chelsea
Radamel Falcao, Asmir Begovic, Baba Rahman, Papy Djilobodji, Pedro Rodriguez, Michael Hector, Kenedy, Nathan, Danilo Pantic, Cristian Manea, Joseph Colley
Transferred away from Chelsea
Petr Cech, Oriol Romeu, Didier Drogba, Filipe Luis, Gael Kakuta, Josh McEachran
Loans
Nathan Ake, Victorien Angban, Christian Atsu, Lewis Baker, Patrick Bamford, Jeremie Boga, Isiah Brown, Nathaniel Chalobah, Andreas Christensen, Juan Cuadrado, Cristian Cuevas, Alex Davey, Ulises Davila, Matej Delac, Islam Feruz, Michael Hector, Jordan Houghton, Tomas Kalas, Todd Kane, Cristian Manea, Marco Marin, Victor Moses, Nathan, Kenneth Omeruo, Danilo Pantic, Mario Pasalic, Stipe Perica, Lucas Piazon, Jhoao Rodriguez, Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke, Marco Van Ginkel, Wallace
So there aren't many major changes to the first team squad that ran away with last season's title. Falcao replaces Drogba, Rahman replaces Luis, Begovic replaces Cech, Pedro replaces Cuadrado, and Djilobodji replaces a hole in the squad, while playing havoc with spellcheck software everywhere.
Obviously, I think all of us would have preferred to see the Blues add more high-end young talent to the squad, but I have a hard time being upset with this window after all was said and done. Chelsea added some young, high-end talent to the mix, haven't lost any key starters from a year ago, and have probably upgraded the bench on the whole. It could be better, but it could also be a whole lot worse.
As always, we want to know what you think of the overall body of work now that the window has closed. With that in mind, you'll find a poll below to grade the window, and feel free to explain your grade in the comments section below.
