Several hours ago, Chelsea began being linked to Nantes' defender Papy Djilobodji. Talks have apparently moved very, very quickly, with the Senegalese center back now reportedly undergoing his medical, in advance of a transfer:

If true, it's probably only a matter of hours before we hear details of the agreement, even if English clubs have until tomorrow to complete any transfers. Djilobodji certainly wasn't the target I expected to see Chelsea signing when I woke up this morning, nor a name that I had hoped to type multiple times before my first cup of coffee.
Still, the defender is an interesting wild card, and despite having a very interesting name to both spell and attempt to pronounce, should be relatively fun to watch this season. He certainly adds the size, speed, and athleticism which Jose Mourinho appears to want in the center of the defense, so hopefully he adapts to England quickly.
