Southampton medical for Blues midfielder - report

Oriol Romeu is still on Chelsea's books somehow, but it sounds like that won't be the case for much longer. The young midfielder, snapped up from Barcelona at around the same time Chelsea acquired Romelu Lukaku, looked for a little while to be the future of defensive midfield at Stamford Bridge but fell out of favour when André Villas-Boas left town, then suffered a serious knee injury and has been bouncing around on loan since.

The club, I imagine, has just been waiting for someone to give him a new home, and the lucky winners appear to be Southampton, who are prepared -- so say the Independent, at least -- to offer Romeu a permanent deal. The report claims that a fee has been agreed and that Romeu is taking a medical, and I can't imagine that there'll be many tears shed around Chelsea letting him go as long as there's decent money involve. The Saints have had some success with our cast-offs in the form of Ryan Bertrand, so perhaps this will work out for everyone?
