Chelsea transfer rumours: Blues behind Roma in chase for Baba Rahman

The Italian transfer frenzy continues! With Juventus, Inter Milan, Fiorentina and who knows else seemingly chasing all of our attacking midfielders bar Eden Hazard, now it's time for Roma to try to hijack one of our deals. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Roma, looking to reinforce their wingback position, have reached an agreement with Augsburg left back Baba Rahman.

Di Marzio claims that Roma have offered Rahman annual wages €400,000 higher than Chelsea, and also says that neither clubs have met Augsburg's demands so far. We've had ESPNFC suggesting that Baba Rahman's price tag was at least €20 million, but now the Italian journalist says that Augsburg is asking for €25 million to release the player. Roma have made an offer of €18 million including bonuses, while if you trust these reports, Chelsea have put in a €15 million bid.

I'm quite certain that Chelsea can outbid Roma and also offer more attractive wages to Baba if they're willing to make a push, but I'm getting a bit worried about the chances of missing out on him. Quality fullbacks are a rare commodity nowadays, especially young ones like the Ghanaian player, and we shouldn't waste a chance of reinforcing the position if Filipe Luis is on the way out.
