One more academy hopeful is set to move elsewhere as Chelsea readies themselves to listen to bids for the player. Todd Kane, a 21 years old right-back who joined the club at the age of seven and since then had successful spells with Blackburn Rovers, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest at Championship and League One, isn't part of Chelsea's future plans according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Todd Kane is still young, and has room to grow, but he never had the opportunity of showing promise at a level higher than the Championship. With only one year left on his contract and Chelsea seemingly uninterested on extending their link with the player, it makes sense that the club wants to cash in on Kane sooner than later, even it means receiving "pennies" compared to higher profile transfers. Any amount of money counts, I'd say.
Good luck to Kane, wherever he may go. Maybe one day we'll see him again, either on our side or on the opponent's.
