If Chelsea were looking to provide Willian some competition on the right wing this offseason, the list of possible targets they could be chasing just got a little bit smaller. Pedro he agreed a new deal with FC Barcelona, which should end any thoughts that the forward would be available on the cheap:
FC Barcelona has announced that they have reached an agreement with Pedro Rodríguez to renew his contract until 30 June 2019. The striker’s current contract was due to expire on 30 June 2016.
His buyout clause will remain at 150 million euros.
The Canary Islander will be signing the new deal over the next few days.
Pedro had been linked to Chelsea on and off for the past two seasons, but frankly, it was a link that made very little sense given the fact that a) Pedro wouldn't start for Chelsea, and b) Barcelona can't bring in a replacement for any of their outgoing players until January, 2016.
With Pedro links now being thrown directly onto the compost heap, Chelsea fans can turn their attention to younger, shinier targets. Hooray!
