Lewis Baker heads out on loan

Lewis Baker has thoroughly outgrown the academy, and after spending the end of last season on loan at MK Dons, he now gets to try his luck in the Eredivisie. Yep, it's Vitesse Arnhem for the 20-year-old midfielder, who'll spend the 2015/16 season out there. The official site (and Vitesse's as well) has confirmed the move, which is hardly a surprise considering the destination.

Chelsea obviously have very close ties with Vitesse and our loans there have generally been quite successful. Bertrand Traore excelled in Arnhem last season, while Josh McEachran and Wallace both started to find their feet after having difficulty elsewhere. The club will trust Vitesse to help Baker's development, and I can't imagine that a player of his quality won't get significant playing time over the course of the season.

Vitesse are currently in the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League, so if all goes well this should also lead to some European experience on top of league play.
