Chelsea appear to be interested in adding depth to their midfield this summer, and on Saturday, they've found themselves linked to a former Arsenal man. Alex Song looked mostly excellent during his return to the Premier League with West Ham this season, and with Barcelona seemingly having little interest in retaining him for next season, a permanent return to England seems inevitable at this point.
The Telegraph are now reporting that both Chelsea and Manchester City would have some level of interest in the 27-year old, though how much they'd be willing to pay is a bit of an unknown. The interest would certainly make sense, given the homegrown status of Song, and the recent rumors connecting John Obi Mikel to other clubs. As a squad player, Jose Mourinho could certainly do worse.
While the Song link does make some sense, the fact that he's being tenuously linked to both Chelsea and Manchester City does make me wonder if this is simply Barcelona looking for more of West Ham's television money. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
