Chelsea have made their first loan deal of the summer. It's not a surprising one, either -- we'd been hearing that newly-promoted Bournemouth were interested in the services of Christian Atsu for the better part of a week now, and now it's official. The club's site has confirmed that the winger will head to Dean Court for the 2015/16 season 'subject to Premier League approval', and although they're not explicit about the length of the loan it looks to be a year-long deal.
Atsu spent last season doing not much of anything with Everton, making 13 appearances for the Toffees in a highly forgettable season, so this represents a good chance to bounce back and restore some of his lost status. Despite last year's struggles, he's definitely capable of helping Bournemouth, and the Cherries will be looking for all the help they can get as they try to consolidate their position in the Premier League.
Of course, it's now up to Atsu to do what he couldn't last year: secure a place in the first team and actually get regular minutes in the Premier League.
