Elche forward confirms that Chelsea have been watching him

When Chelsea were beaten to the signing of Andrej Kramaric, I was curious if they'd be looking at a similar sort of player during the January window. It turns out they were looking at Elche's Jonathas, even if they didn't make an offer:

Q: Some newspapers are reporting that Chelsea could bet on you as a new Diego Costa next season. It is true?

A: I saw these articles, but there was no proposal. West Brom was also mentioned. The morning before the game against Villareal a director was watching our training with the president. He was talking to Mario (Pasalic) and then I knew he was not there to accompany the player, but to observe me.

Elche are awful and have a fair chance of being relegated, and I doubt he'll be returning for a second season on loan if the club go down (he's currently on a two-year loan from Pescara).  I suppose we now have a little more reason to keep an eye on Mario Pasalic.
