This ended slightly faster than expected: Thorgan Hazard is no longer a Chelsea player. Borussia Monchengladbach had been asking about a permanent deal for some time now, and the Blues have agreed to send him to the Bundesliga for good.
Thorgan Hazard moves from @ChelseaFC to @borussia, signed a deal until 2020. Good decision from the Belgian attacking midfielder. #CFC

As expected: Thorgan Hazard joins Borussia Mönchengladbach. Permanent move with buy-back clause. #CFC

That buyback clause is obviously interesting and, as pointed out by pretty much everyone talking about the deal, means we're not going to get ourselves into a situation in which we buy back a former Chelsea prospect turned star for a lot of money. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing much reporting as to an actual transfer fee, so it's difficult to know just how well the club did on this one. It's probably safe to say that we made a fairly hefty profit, though. The loan machine pays dividends once more.
