The final Chelsea-related business of the January transfer window was to officially say goodbye to Ryan Bertrand. The fullback has officially joined the Saints on a permanent basis:

It's likely that the club exercised their option to buy which was negotiated with the loan, and that we'll hear the amount in short order. The announcement changes very little for the current Chelsea squad though, with the exception of making the player eligible to play against the Blues when next we face the Saints.
Bertrand has done well this season with regular minutes, and while I'm not sure he'd be an upgrade to either of the left back options Jose Mourinho currently has, it would have been awfully nice to see an academy product contributing to the squad. Best of luck on the south coast, Ryan.
