Official: Mohamed Salah joins Fiorentina on loan

Mohamed Salah was always a bit of a curious signing for Chelsea, and his stay with the first team lasted just one year. The Egyptian was sent to Fiorentina on loan Monday evening, and will remain with the Serie A side for the remainder of the 2014/15 campaign.

There's little doubting the upside with Salah, as he's one of the more explosive athletes in world football at the moment, and he's shown flashes of utter brilliance. Salah has struggled with form though, showing very little polish, likely due to seeing very little time on the pitch.

With any luck, Salah will play often and play well for Fiorentina, and increase his value even if he never winds up returning to the Chelsea first team. If we're extremely fortunate, he'll have the best games of his career when Fiorentina play Spurs in the Europa League round of 32, and make them work harder than they'd like to ahead of our League Cup final at Wembley.
