The future of one Hazard was secured yesterday to universal rejoicing, and now we get to talk about another one. The Thorgan-Hazard-to-stay-in-Germany conversation has been a slow-burner, not even a rumour because of the frankness of both parties, and while it's not threatening to come to a boil anytime soon it's still sitting there, heating away:
We are still in good talks with Chelsea. The fact is that Thorgan is happy to stay here. The fact is also that Chelsea have signalled that they can see it happening. And it's a fact that we are very keen to take Thorgan.
Source: Mail.
This is an amusingly vague quote. Chelsea can see 'it' happening might be a permanent deal, which is what Borussia Monchengladbach have been hoping for all along, or it might be a loan deal, which the club would obviously be completely fine with. Either way, the Bundesliga is a great level for young Thorgan to continue to develop, and it's great so see him in demand.
If he does go permanently, I hope there's a hefty sell-on clause. But right now, the best solution for everyone's probably a second year at Gladbach.
Meanwhile:
Thorgan Hazard tells RTBF "I don't know if I'm ready. I hope to have a good season at Mönchengladbach & hope one day to play for Chelsea."
