With Andre Schurrle beingleft out of the squad for the past three matches, and some of the comments we've heard from the player's agent recently, it seemed just a matter of time before a deal was announced. Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has tapped the breaks a bit on Sunday though, telling the Wolfsburger Nachrichten that the Blues are yet to accept the German club's proposal:
"There is no agreement at the moment. The clock is running out. Our options are getting less hour by hour. It depends on money. We still would like to sign him."
I have a hard time believing that Schurrle will still be a Chelsea player when the transfer window slams shut, but given that there's no financial need for the Blues to sell during January (or even in the summer), I suppose it's still possible. If there's no deal in place at the moment, though, it's a bit irritating that he's being left out of the squad, when Chelsea could have definitely used him on the bench yesterday against Manchester City.
The last 32 hours of the January transfer window should be fun...
