It's getting to the time of year when the phrase 'Sky Sports understands' becomes less of a punchline and more of a rallying call to mass delusions of hope (or fear). Sky Sports understand that Chelsea are going to sign Lionel Messi? Party! Sky Sports understand than Eden Hazard has decided to [fun] off to New York? Suicide watch.
Ok, so we're perhaps not that far along yet. But we're still close enough to the deadline to take Sky's pronouncements more seriously than we otherwise might. What do they understand today? Let's consult the oracle:
Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado has made it clear he wants to join Chelsea, Sky sources understand.
Which is not really surprising, because Chelsea are both better positioned than Fiorentina to win things this season (let's ignore the FA Cup) and liable to give Cuadrado a great deal more money than any club in Serie A might possibly be able to manage. It's the sort of move agents spend their time dreaming about.
But that he's made his desires 'clear', presumably to Fiorentina, is probably a good thing. If we're really in negotiations for the Colombian, every bit of leverage counts.
