Most believed that Burnley was a great fit for Nathaniel Chalobah when he joined on loan in August, but unfortunately, things just didn't work out the way that most would have hoped. The defender returned to Stamford Bridge on Friday, after failing to earn regular minutes in Burnley's first team.
All told, Chalobah's body of work was limited to just 65 minutes on the pitch, coming from four substitute appearances. He was an unused substitute on eight other occasions, and was not used in either the League Cup or FA Cup this campaign.
It's pretty unlikely that Chalobah will figure into Jose Mourinho's plans after failing to break in to a bottom of the table lineup, and because players can only play official matches for two clubs during the same season, is almost certainly not going to take part in any Chelsea matches before the close of the January transfer window. Where he'll wind up then will be interesting, but a third season in which he plays Championship football wouldn't be at all surprising.
