With Lionel Messi to Chelsea being so far off the scale in terms of implausibility that after a week of fevered imaginings all speculation has since died down, it's Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus who's getting the bulk of the probably-not-going-to-happen-but-wouldn't-it-be-cool-if attention. The inside forward is on a very low release clause that kicks in this summer, and the Blues are one of the few teams with the stature and financial firepower to be serious about picking him up.

While I doubt it's going to happen, the Reus chase is at least interesting enough to be worth commenting on whenever something happens, and today something did indeed happen: his agent came out claiming that rumours of a five-year deal agreed with Real Madrid are 'nonsense'. 'Blatant nonsense', in fact. That doesn't mean he won't go to Real, of course (although there are only so many attacking players you can possibly stuff into one lineup and they're already way above that figure), just that everything is still up in the air.

In other words, we're still in with a shot.
