Messi changes his tune, re-opens the door to Premier League switch

After Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid on Sunday evening, Lionel Messi had some strong words concerning the rampant speculation that Messi wanted to leave the Catalan club. At Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony, Messi proceeded to reignite those rumors with the following comment:

"I'm not sure what's going to happen, whether I'd go to Newell's. I don't know where I will be next year. I've always said I want to end my career at Barcelona, but as Cristiano [Ronaldo] just said, nobody knows what the future holds."

It sounds like Messi is simply trying to make everyone happy at once, regardless of how silly it makes him look to completely change his story in a 12-hour period. Then again, the man once wore this polka dot suit.

At first I thought all this nonsense was simply the Argentine seeking a fat new contract, but now, I'm not so sure. Maybe Messi is just trying to impress upon CFG that he'd be an ideal target for New York City Football Club Manchester City in the near future. If the shoe might fit but is far too confusing to wear...
