Petr Cech to remain with Chelsea, according to reports

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea legend Petr Cech will be remaining with the club through at least the January window. The outlet is reporting that the keeper won't be loaned or transferred today, but will instead remain to provide cover for Thibaut Courtois this fall.

The move probably shouldn't come as much of a surprise. On Sunday, Chelsea allowed Marco van Ginkel to join AC Milan for the season, solving the problem of too many international players in the squad. The move brought the Blues down to 17, the maximum allowed by FA regulations, meaning that everyone could be registered as long as no further players are brought in during the window.

Should Chelsea decide to make a last minute purchase as the clock is winding down today, it probably wouldn't mean anything for Cech anyway. The more likely scenario would simply be leaving Mark Schwarzer out of the squad, as with Cech and Courtois both present and Jamal Blackman playing for the U21 side, there's little need for him anyway.
