Harry Redknapp has confirmed on Saturday that Chelsea will be landing a replacement for Fernando Torres in the next 48 hours. Actual footage of Redknapp confirming the move can be seen here, if you really want to subject yourself to watching and hearing the QPR manager.
The Blues have shown interest in Remy before, having been linked to the player on deadline day several seasons ago. It's hard to believe he won't be both more useful and more versatile than the now departed Fernando Torres. He'll also likely have a FFP hit in about the same range as we're saving by letting Fernando leave, for whatever that's worth.
So we've gone from a threesome of Demba Ba, Samuel Eto'o, and Fernando Torres to Diego Costa, Didier Drogba, and Remy during a single transfer window. That sounds like a job well done to me, and I'm really, really looking forward to some competent striker play this season.
