Have you heard all of that talk linking misfiring striker Fernando Torres to various clubs throughout Europe? I've been laughing them off, because not only does he seem unlikely to land a quality job anywhere, but moving would require him to either take a pretty massive pay cut or for Chelsea to cover an awfully large portion of his wages to play for someone else.
While the pay may still prove to be a massive issue, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo had some kind words to say when asked about Fernando Torres this afternoon. Here's what he had to say about a potential return:
"So far he has not come home, but there would be a good reception here, and everyone who wants to come is welcome."
Hopefully this isn't simply a case of a club president saying nice things about a former player, but rather an invitation to Torres to push for a return to his boyhood club. I'd imagine most Chelsea fans would be fine with him returning as well, especially as that almost certainly means that Romelu Lukaku would end up sticking around as a result.
