Antonio Conte resigns, let the Pogbacalypse commence

Paolo Bruno

On Tuesday, Antonio Conte shocked the Juventus fanbase by stepping down from his position as head coach. There has already been much speculation that the move was caused by a disagreement with the Juventus board over the sales of their two most valuable players, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.

The Italian press have already been reporting that Vidal is bound for Manchester United, in a deal that will net the old lady a substantial return on their investment. Jose Mourinho hasn't been shy about his admiration for Pogba though, and it seems to be only a matter of time before the internet explodes with rumors of an agreement sending Pogba to Chelsea*.

*Please don't point out that @Chelseasources has been "reporting" this for days. If you're one of the thousands dumb enough to follow that idiot, you deserve the laser.

While I'm sure we'll never know the full reasoning for Conte's resignation, it does stand to reason that the sales of both Pogba and Vidal would be more likely now that the popular manager has left the Italian club. If Chelsea do have real interest in bringing the player to London, this would be a great time to put in a very substantial offer in hopes of turning the player's head.

Whether or not that actually happens, we can be pretty sure that the next month and a half will feature loads of stories about our interest in the player. As Terrell Owens once said, "get your popcorn ready".
