Official: Diego Costa joins Chelsea FC

It's no longer "all but official"

David Ramos

Chelsea FC have confirmed today that Diego Costa is now officially a Chelsea player. It's been all but official for months now, but any chance of a deal collapsing has now been put to rest.

The 25-year old was in sensational form this past season, and had scored at a very respectable clip in the two seasons prior to that, one of which was spent playing more of a supporting role. Costa brings a very physical, direct style that the squad was lacking in each of the past two seasons, and should thrive in Chelsea's attack much the same way he has for DIego Simeone in each of the past two campaigns.

Costa signed a five-year deal with the Blues, which will expire following the 2018/19 season. The signing immediately pushes both Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku into reserve roles with the club, with more moves still possible if Jose Mourinho gets his wish.
