Ryan Bertrand makes sense for an awful lot of clubs. The defender spent the first half of the season with Chelsea, where he failed to do enough to put himself ahead of either Ashley Cole or Cesar Azpilicueta on the left back depth chart. Given that he's unlikely to get much time by staying at Chelsea and that he's one of the better young left backs in England, any Premier League club in need of an upgrade should at least be talking to Chelsea.
Tottenham could use a better left back than Danny Rose, and with former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino taking over at White Hart Lane, it was simply a matter of time before one of the tabloids began linking the pair to each other. This morning, The Sunday People did just that.
I have no idea whether or not Bertrand is a serious target for Tottenham, or whether this is simply typical Sunday People trash. While I'm inclined to believe this is simply lazy journalism at its finest, but as it makes sense, it's probably worth considering anyway.
