Charly Musonda Jr. joined the Chelsea academy from RSC Andrelecht several seasons ago, but is being linked to a temporary return to his first club today. According to reports in Belgium, Anderlecht are considering bringing Musonda back on loan to help reinforce for next season.
Returning to the club where he started his professional career would seem like an appropriate move, though it would be a bit surprising to see Chelsea decide to let him leave after two seasons with the academy. After all, a third year here would see Musonda gain both homegrown and club-trained status, and he's certainly not outgrown the U21 level at this point.
For Anderlecht though, the interest makes a ton of sense, and that's likely why this report is in the media. The player is already familiar with the area, club, and many of his teammates, so there shouldn't be too much of a transition issue. He'd presumably cost the club next to nothing as well, and given the financial disadvantages that Belgian clubs face, it probably makes Musonda a target that the club would love to add. I'd be surprised if this happens, but I suppose it's worth noting.
