It's not very often that a club manages to have two of the top keepers on the planet fighting for a single spot on the pitch, but that's exactly the situation Chelsea have found themselves in this season. With Thibaut Courtois having secured the regular starting job at Chelsea, and recently extended his contract, it does make some sense that the club would look to cash in on their longtime starter, rather than letting him run down his contract while wasting away in the bench.
According to Petr Cech's agent, however, that transfer will not happen until at least the summer window. Here's what he had to say to the Italian press, when asked about recent links to Roma:
"There has been no contact with AS Roma. Certainly Petr will not move during the transfer market in January."
The Mail weren't reporting any contact with the Serie A side, so that part comes as no surprise. It's a bit surprising to see Cech's agent rule out a January move, however, as it would seem to be a possibility that the player and club would certainly consider.
If a move doesn't happen in January, one is almost certain to come together once the season ends. Here's hoping he adds another Champions League winners medal before that inevitable transfer happens.
