Chelsea targeting Championship defender as John Terry replacement, according to reports

If John Cross of The Daily Mirror is to be believed, Chelsea are targeting 21-year old Tyrone Mings as a player to add to their army of young talent. While the youngster has been playing left back for Ipswich Town, his 6'3" frame has led to some speculation that he might be a future center back.

Mings spent eight years at the Southampton academy, but was cut loose in 2009. Looking back on that, it would appear to be a rare mistake by the side currently sitting second in the Premier League. The player wound up latching on with Ipswich Town in 2013 for just £10,000.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle, and Everton are all rumored to have interest in the player as well, and Crystal Palace made a hard push to add him on deadline day this past August. I'd imagine if Chelsea were to add Mings during the January window, the move would involve the player remaining in The Championship for the remainder of the 2014/15 season.
