Manchester United topped Chelsea's Luke Shaw bid, according to report

This is probably bad news for any Luke Shaw fans out there

Chelsea have been linked to Luke Shaw quite a bit of late, with some rumors that they've even made a bid for the player. According to The Mirror, the Blues now have company in their pursuit of the young left back, having been joined by Manchester United:

Manchester United boss David Moyes has made a £22.5million bid for Southampton’s teenage left-back Luke Shaw.

Moyes has topped Chelsea’s offer of £21m and is hoping to open talks this weekend. The Old Trafford chief is keen to land the 18-year-old immediately by offering him the opportunity to start in the first team from the outset, as well as a lucrative long-term contract.

It's unfortunate to see other clubs showing interest in Chelsea targets, even if it's just a mid-table side from a less appealing city than London. If United want Luke Shaw as well, he's highly unlikely to come cheap. It wasn't overly likely that he was going to come at a discount anyway, as he's one of the better young players in England at the moment.

If Chelsea really want the player, I'd be surprised if we didn't hear more about an increased bid from Jose Mourinho's side this week. We now have absolutely nothing to worry about as far as FFP are concerned, and unlike United, don't need the player right away. It's going to be a fun few days leading up to the deadline...
