No transfer window would be complete without a rumor of Hulk transferring to Chelsea, so when the player turned up in London this morning, the papers immediately took note. Here's what The Daily Mail had to say on the matter:
Hulk has caused a stir by posting pictures of himself flying into Luton Airport with his Zenit team-mate Luis Neto. He is being offered to clubs in England while Monaco have expressed an interest following the injury to his former Porto strike partner Radamel Falcao.
The Brazil forward's representatives have been looking to talk to Manchester City and Chelsea to see if they have interest.
Chelsea, who will be without Fernando Torres for a month, made a substantial offer to Zenit St Petersburg in August for the 27-year-old and could pave way for his arrival if they accept Trabzonspor's bid for Demba Ba.
A couple of years ago, this move made plenty of sense. Now, not so much. Hulk is still a fantastic player, but unless Jose Mourinho was convinced that he could be dominant in a central role, he'd seem a pretty silly luxury buy.
The Mail isn't yet reporting any interest from Chelsea, they're simply noting that the player is looking for a way out of Russia. I have a hard time believing that Chelsea still harbor interest, especially after reaching an agreement for another left-footed right flank attacker on Thursday. Then again, a week ago I was laughing at how stupid the idea that Chelsea would sell Juan Mata was. That worked out well, didn't it?
