Demba Ba is going to be in the news today, and the Metro have just run a story claiming that several clubs have held talks with Chelsea about acquiring the player before the deadline today. According to the Metro:
Arsenal are believed to have approached Chelsea on Saturday to ask about his availability, and have now returned to the table in the hope of doing business.
The Gunners want to sign Ba on a season-long loan deal, with the option for a permanent move in 12 months’ time.
Chelsea are understood to prefer a straight cash deal, and have already held talks with Roma over a sale, but nothing is agreed.
The Metro don't have a very good reputation, and the only reason I'm even bothering with this one is that it actually makes a good deal of sense. Ba would be an excellent fit for Arsenal, they'd almost certainly prefer a loan for a player with knee concerns, and Chelsea would almost certainly prefer to sell the player rather than loan him. He'd also fit in nicely at Roma, and the Italian side have been rebuilding their squad this season.
It looks as if the Ba situation is going to be the biggest one for Chelsea fans to watch today, and I'd assume whichever club ends up adding him is going to want to take their time on his medical. Because of that, I'd expect quite a bit of chatter about the player over the next few hours. Hooray!
