Report: Chelsea FC agree to sign Willian

New, comments

Chelsea finally filled their gaping hole in the band of three with this signing, assuming nobody swoops in to snatch the player from their grasp

The Willian transfer scenario unfolded quickly, didn't it? Not too long ago, the player was undergoing a medical at Tottenham where he'd be the man replacing Gareth Bale. Enter Roman Abramovich (and a yacht full of money), and now the player is heading to Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho confirmed that the player would be having a Chelsea medical this morning, but that other than that, we had a basic agreement in place with the player. Now we have news that the player has scheduled that medical, and that the rest of the deal has been agreed:

Mourinho has also confirmed this morning that Juan Mata will definitely be remaining with the Blues, so the conspiracy theorists in the crowd should probably sit this one out. I'd imagine the move for Willian will mean a reduced role for someone, but it almost certainly won't be Chelsea's two-time reigning player of the year.

Regardless of who loses minutes due to the arrival of the Brazilian, the squad just got better with this news. Welcome to Stamford Bridge, Willian...I can't wait to see your debut.
