Former Chelsea player Ben Gordon joins the Scottish Premier League

The Chelsea academy product has struggled to find playing time in England, so a return to Scotland made a ton of sense

Former Chelsea player Ben Gordon has latched on with a new club for the upcoming season, returning to the league in which he's enjoyed most of his success. Gordon officially joined Ross County this afternoon, and his new manager had the following to say about the former Blue:

"Ben is a former England U20 international and Chelsea player. He enjoyed a great loan spell in the SPL winning the Scottish League Cup in 2012 and has good experience playing in England. He joined the squad for pre-season training today"

Gordon just never managed to find a regular role at an English club, but his two loan spells in Scotland went very, very well. Hopefully he enjoys more of the same sort of success now that he's contracted to a Scottish club, Ross County managed to finish 5th in the SPL last season.

For those of us in the United States, this will likely mean plenty of opportunity to see Ben in action. Fox Soccer Channel has lost the rights to basically every domestic league in Europe over the past several years, so now they'll be featuring the Scottish Premier League on the weekends. I doubt many will watch, but the opportunity will certainly be there.

Best of luck to Ben, as he always seemed like a good kid while at Chelsea. If there's nothing else on TV, I might even try to catch a few of his games.
