We've been hearing for several weeks now that RSC Anderlecht had an interest in taking Chelsea's Thorgan Hazard on loan, and frankly, it was a destination that made loads of sense. Anderlecht are usually the best club in Belgium, offer Champions League football, and would certainly be a step up for Thorgan Hazard this season (albeit a small one).
Today we've got some news of another Belgian club interested in acquiring our young midfielder, as Genk are also looking to bring the younger Hazard in on loan. They've reportedly already spoken with the player about a move*, and seem like they may be the likelier destination at the moment.
*Presumably with Chelsea's blessing, as is usually the case with these things
I'd personally rather see Hazard loaned to Anderlecht just due to the presence of Champions League football already being guaranteed. Genk need to go through the entire Europa qualifying process in order to participate in Europe next season, and would probably need to be a bit fortunate in order to even qualify.
Anderlecht would supposedly prefer to buy the player, but I can't imagine that possibility is even on the table for discussion. I'd think the presence of other interest from another Belgian club would quickly convince them to give up on that idea, as they just don't have the sort of financial muscle to be trying to buy players that Chelsea have a use for anyway. Either way, I'd like to see Hazard's situation sorted sooner rather than later, as he'd benefit from having as much time as possible to settle in with his new club.
